Archive for the ‘Economy’ Category

It’s the beginning of the election season for the President of the United States.  Where are we now compared to 7 years ago?

The economy has basically stabilized at low GDP growth 1-2.5% range.  The unemployment numbers are at 2009 levels, yet this seems clouded with out of the labor force numbers of nearly 94,000,000.  That’s a mighty big number, even if it were 1/4 that number 23,500,000 people, that’s huge!  Even 1/10th would be 9,400,000, very large indeed.  So employment is basically still terrible after 7 years.

After 7 years we’re pushed a media-propagandist driven agenda on a remarkable number of social ideologies which pitch one part of our citizens against another part of citizens furthering the division and divisiveness like we have never seen before.

Under the President he has either incorrectly judged or incorrectly decided foreign policy which has positioned America in a weaker position internationally.  Several of these situations include: Syria-Assad/Russia, Iraq-ISIS/L, Ukraine-Russia, Iran-Nuclear/Russia, Israel-Palestine, North Korea-South Korea, China-Currency Manipulation/Cyber Warfare.

Four years ago, we wrote an article which described 5 dominoes which may fall. While each area may have mutated from what was visible, these dominoes are real.  Take a look;  Another 4 Years, The Dominoes are Visible

The Presidency is the toughest job in the world.  In fact, it’s become so complicated by special interests, by over-reaching authority that it’s stretched beyond it’s capability to operate with competency.  Look at the IRS scandal , as individuals extend their authority to harm citizens of opposing views and of course we hold no-one accountable !  We should be very afraid of this, consider the EPA, FCC, DOJ, DHS-TSA, BLM all of these alphabet soup agencies actually have very limited oversight, are fraught with such potential for agency abuse at the various leadership levels within each organization.  The abuse and potential yet to occur abuses have now outweighed the original usefulness of why the agencies was created in the first place!

This all suggests that less government, a constitutional based government is the only way to turn.   However, this is not and will not be reality unless the silent majority elects the right President, needed at precisely the right time, to pull back on government excesses, take control of fiscal responsibility, adheres to the rule of law and levels the playing field back in favor of the citizens and not special interest or the political elites!  November 2016 cannot come soon enough!

In an October 23, 2013 CBS article they explain;

“…Incredibly misleading for people that are trying to get a sense of what they’re paying.” said Industry Analyst, Jonathan Wu.  Wu points to how the website lumps people only into two broad categories: “49 or under” and “50 or older.”  Prices for everyone in the 49-or-under group are based on what a 27-year-old would pay. In the 50-or-older group, prices are based on what a 50-year-old would pay.

CBS ran the numbers for older Americans and found a huge difference of what was represented and what actually would be the price.  For example 62-year-old in Charlotte looking for the same basic plan would get a price estimate on the government website of $394. The actual price is $634.

Running the numbers for a 48-year-old in Charlotte, N.C., according to HealthCare.gov, she would pay $231 a month, but the actual plan on Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina’s website costs $360, more than 50 percent higher.  The difference: Blue Cross and Blue Shield requests your birthday before providing more accurate estimates.

What would happen to a company that represented it’s pricing this way?  They would inevitably be brought up on deceptive advertising at least and possibly fraud if an older or mentally challenged individual had difficulty in actually discerning the difference as they proceeded with purchase.

The reality of an average price would take the population 50 through 90’s and average theObama-and-Sebelius age of the population in that sample, most likely finding it skewing more toward 65 than 50.  Same with under 49, probably finding the average around 35.  In any case, why can’t they just say, born in this “year” or give the actual price, this is not beyond website technology, well for a private company anyway.

The Government should not be exempt from the wide array of Consumer Protection laws and the very administration created our very own Consumer Czar, Elizabeth Warren.  Where is she in all of this?

“Industry executives CBS News spoke with literally could not believe the government is providing these estimates, which they said were useless and could easily mislead consumers,”  NBC News, Jan Crawford said.

“They also say that the website repeatedly states the actual prices could be lower – but it makes no mention that they could be higher,” she added.  She has already called the website a “complete disaster,” and the Obamacare rollout a “complete failure.” On Friday, Crawford focused on the widely-acknowledged privacy risks surrounding the system, but adding that “the glitches have, in fact, made the website unusable for most.”

In our article written last year October 6, 2012, titled “Tax me again an again” , we wrote about the current state of the United States Tax system and where the money was going.   One particular part was the dire situation relating to

File:GAO Slide.png

where the money was going and the trend of these new and continually growing entitlements.

We proposed several solutions at that time, of course nothing has happened in one year.

1) Get people back to work, 2) Stop corporate bail out and incentives, 3) Everyone should pay taxes, 4) Reduce our spending in ALL categories, 5) Get our entitlements under control.

Ok, people will say, hey we reduced our spending that’s what Sequestration was all about… er, ah, well actually no.  Sequestrations was the measly reduction of $85 Billion out of projected $185Billion increase in next years budget.  It’s not actually cutting any spending, it’s cutting NOT spending as much the next year.   This is cutting Washington style, it’s taking a slice off the top of expected increase in spending.  So why all the noise?

Ok what about taxes, well taxes were raised by repeal of top earner Bush Tax Cuts.   We still have a problem with half the population no paying any “Federal Income Taxes”.  Here’s a video that describes this.

Well, well, well, maybe I was wrong, here’s where even more people are going to get taxed.  Affordable Health Care Act (Obamacare).   Yep, I said it, Taxed.  How you say?  Well first everyone that does already have health insurance will be taxed 3.8% on their purchase of health insurance.  What?  Taxed on already buying health insurance?  Yep… look for it in your next years bill from your insurance carrier, they are to collect

a) health insurer tax – offsets expenses related to premium subsidies 2.3%
b) transitional reinsurance contribution program tax – helps cover costs for high risk individuals in non group market. 1.5%

obamacare-exchangesYes, that’s right, individually if you buy healthcare you will be taxed on top of what you buy.  Forget that many insurance plans are rising at 20, 30 or more percent year on year because of “Affordable” Health Care Act.  Ugh.. BUT it’s not over.   So if you don’t have health care, you must buy it or pay a penalty, er I mean tax.  So let’s say you just don’t want health insurance, you can pay $95 penalty or 1% of your income in 2014.  That penalty will rise to $325 or 2% of income in 2015 and to $695 or 2.5% of income in 2016.   Ok, that’s interesting.  What if I just buy the health insurance then.  Well if you make less than $11,490 a year you can get 60% subsidy on your purchase.  But if you make say just a bit more, say $15,000 a year you have to pay the penalty or buy the insurance.  What does it cost for say a 50 year old only making $15,000 a year.  Well the cheapest insurance (in California’s exchange) is $329 a month.  That’s $3,948 or 26% of your income.  Plus a 3.8% tax on top or another $150 a year.  So not too affordable to someone between say the $15,000 to $45,000 (8.7% of income) a year income, so what is it they will likely do?  Pay the penalty.. So much for getting everyone on Health Care.    But don’t worry  we were all supposed to be paying $2,500 a year less in health care.  So $3,948 should actually have been $1,448), still nearly 10% of income at $15,000 a year, but possible.  Who promised it would be less?

ObamaCareOk, so there is only one thing in the Law that appeared to have been in need of intervention, pre-existing condition.  So did we need a 1,600 page government program to enact a law that say insurance companies can’t discriminate against pre-existing condition? Of course not, yes rates would go up to cover those with pre-existing condition, but certainly not to the increases we are seeing with all the affects this law has placed on the insurance carriers and the public.  Well then other say, we want to get everyone health care and our existing system is one of the worst in the world.  Well everyone has by law access to treatment, it’s not health care, it’s treatment.  No one can be denied care if they go for treatment.  Most counties across the country have medical centers which are set up to handle the very poor.  Yes, it costs money and we pay for it already in exiting insurance premiums and existing taxes.  Oh but without health care they won’t get the best treatment, really?

A recent “Investor’s Business Daily” article provided very interesting statistics from a survey by the United Nations International Health Organization. Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years after diagnosis: U.S. 65% England 46% Canada 42% Percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes who received treatment within six months: U.S. 93% England 15% Canada 43% Percentage of seniors needing hip replacement who received it within six months: U.S. 90% England 15% Canada 43% Percentage referred to a medical specialist who see one within one month: U.S. 77% England 40% Canada 43% Number of MRI scanners (a prime diagnostic tool) per million people: U.S. 71 England 14 Canada 18 Percentage of seniors (65+), with low income, who say they are in “excellent health”: U.S. 12% England 2% Canada 6% And now for the last statistic: National Health Insurance? U.S. NO England YES Canada YES.

On our Republic United You Tube Channel, our best post “No Obamacare” has been viewed by 1.6 Million+ people.  Rating Thumbs Up 4,183 and Thumbs Down 414, while this isn’t scientific, it may say something.  Check it out, rate it and comment.

So why such a mess?   Let’s just say maybe, just maybe it has to do with the bureaucrats in charge in the Obama Administration.

Let’s look at the percentage of past president’s cabinet who had worked in the private business sector prior to their appointment to the cabinet.  You know what the private business sector is; a real-life business, not a government job. Here are the percentages.

T. Roosevelt… 38%, Taft… 40%, Wilson… 52%, Harding… 49%, Coolidge…48%, Hoover… 42%, F. Roosevelt… 50%, Truman…50%, Eisenhower…57%, Kennedy…30%,  Johnson…47%, Nixon…53%, Ford…42%, Carter…32%, Reagan…56%, GH Bush…51%, Clinton…39%, GW Bush…55%, Obama…8%.

This may help explain a lot, only 8% of them have ever worked in private business!  And these people are trying to tell our big corporations how to run their business?  They’ve spent most of their time in academia, government and/or non-profit jobs or as “community organizers.”

In modern society it is almost impossible to find one single square inch, from the smallest town to the biggest metropolis, that is not under surveillance. On nearly every street corner, stoplight, private business, police and even fellow citizens. It is next to impossible to do anything unobserved.

Surveillance camerasNow to the average person, at first glance, it seems like a good thing. It increases security and spots crimes as they happen. Facial recognition software make it possible to spot a potential terrorist or a criminal wanted for a crime.

Now, for the most part, people look at this amazing new technology as a positive thing, a time saving convenience that has become an important part of our daily lives, growing more sophisticated and complex and taking over more and more jobs than once belonged to people.

(Still wonder where all the jobs went? They did not all go to China.)

Yet there is a more ominous side to all this technology. There now is the ability to keep track of EVERY business transaction, EVERY phone call, traffic tickets, academic records, credit reports and anything else you do.

Now there is an implantable microchip that can be inserted under the skin that can track you 24/7.Big Brother

If we had any idea of the power and personal information the Department of Homeland Security has at it’s disposal, we would probably ALL be a little shocked and a little apprehensive at the scope of authority they have been given over our every day lives.

The day has come, although not completely implemented yet, when governments can know the whereabouts of every human being in the civilized world. That is every man, woman and child.

The technology to monitor every phone call is already running with computers flagging key words.

Our children are being indoctrinated to accept the global agenda of the U.N..

There is a major attack on home schooling, in fact in some western European nations is is flat out illegal and parents are being put in jail for simply teaching their own children to read and write.

The name of God and Jesus are not allowed to be discussed is schools, but other beliefs are allowed.

GodThis whole thing would be solved by a school voucher system that would let parents choose which school curriculum and values their children are taught, but that would take the power to indoctrinate away from the schools and the government.

The sovereignty of the United States is being chipped away, piece by piece, to the United Nations by treaties that are negotiated in secret and need only the ratification of the Senate to be activated leaving Americans subject to international laws that supersede our own Constitution.

Now, if you are thinking I am jumping all over the place here, you are right. But all this does relate to a point I would like to make.

The point is America is being stolen from us right before our eyes. Confiscated in the cause of globalism. And for the first time in all history, all the pieces are all in place.

There is a general apathy that has taken over a large portion of our population. a lackadaisical attitude toward the freedoms being taken away. The attitude of “Why should I work when I can make just as much from a government check and do nothing?”. These people do whatever they are told as long as their entitlements keep rolling in.

That is what we are up against.americanapathy

There is a globalist in the White House and both the Congress and the Senate are gutless. They are more concerned about looking good on a sound bite than they are of serving the people. They are ready to cave in with the slightest pressure from the media.

The Federal Government is seizing power it was never meant or intended to have and using it in ways it was never meant to be used.

And the American people have lost the will to do anything about it.

Keep your eyes on the ball, America. It’s about to get knocked out of the park. And when it does we may never find it again.

What do you think?

Having endorsed Romney, it’s not how we would have liked to see the outcome of the election.  So where are we now?  Exactly where we were 2 months before the election.  It’s the same President, same House of Representatives, same Senate, so no change.  We need to look “Forward”.

We still have high unemployment and no visible sign of material improvement. Our government is still spending $1 Trillion more per year than we have in our tax income bank account. Our debt is at $16.2 Trillion and will be at $20 Trillion by 2016, our entitlements will not be sustainable when we reach 2030.  Our average take home pay is now $4,000 less.  Our healthcare, while it has helped those with pre-existing condition and closed some loopholes, is still a government tax and will cost tax payers more money for goods and services in the coming 4 years.  Our country inflation is climbing.  Iran is still chasing for a nuclear bomb and Israel is still at risk.  The middle east is under turmoil and we are still at risk in the west from jihad terrorists.

So let’s speculate and try to move the discussion “forward” in some sort of order.  The first domino coming is the Fiscal Cliff.  If nothing is done, and that’s a high probability (see article on Harry Reid) all tax cuts will revert to prior to Bush era and there will be mandatory cut in Defense and various other areas within the government (excluding Social Security, Federal Benefits and Veterans Benefits).  So is going back to Clinton era taxes bad?  No. But the difference is, the economy is a mess and the resulting tax burden will hit all income levels and those hardest hit in the last four years, middle income will be the most devastated moving more into poverty and government dependency.  This will result in a continued, if not worsening housing market, our unemployment will not get better and in fact may rise, but let’s say there is no improvement at a minimum.

Onto government cuts and the second domino to fall, a nuclear Iran.  Can we sustain military and other government cuts? Yes.  It’s impact is uncertain, except if we look at history the USA has never had period where we weren’t at some sort of war or military engagement.  But we will still have military dominance.  As discussed during the Presidential debates, the time is coming when Iran may successfully produced a nuclear weapon. We have such high potential to either be in a military engagement, or watch our Israel friends go it along.  Beyond the military, the cuts also means more unemployment or a third domino, remember those that WARN Act requirements for January by the military suppliers?  While one can conclude that they don’t have to give the WARN notice, because this is a situation beyond “their control”, it’s still a high probability. The probability of layoffs in other government sectors is also a high possibility (of course they could cut something else?).

Deficit and debt reduction.  We have seen no plan. None, nada, zilch.  So, the forth domino is a continued downgrade in our credit rating, inability to get reasonable rate loans or worse we are called to pay back our debt as the credit falls.  This lack of control of fiscal management means we have the potential for further economic collapse, further recession.  Our dollar will continue to fall, inflation will rise and the middle class will be further decimated.

The fifth domino, our population will fall into a further level of dependency, welfare, unemployment and food stamps. They will need it!  But where will the money come from?  Higher taxes.  There will be continued rise in taxing the rich and anyone whom makes any money, to pay for these social programs.

Wow, this sounds bad.  Because it is!    We need jobs to raise government revenue.  One working is one less on government dependency.  It has the potential to double the reduction on the deficit if a citizen whom is dependent on a government assistance is now a tax paying citizen.  We remove the pay out and bring in the tax income.  It’s a win/win.  I don’t see any plan to increase jobs.  I see plans in increase taxes, I see plans to secure entitlements, but jobs?

How many of us could go to work for over 3 years and fail to deliver on your basic job requirements and not get fired? Well that’s exactly what we have with Senator Harry Reid.  On October 29, 2012 it will have been 3.5 years or 1277 days without a budget.

So how does the government work then without a budget?  It’s simple, they are operating on the budget which was put in place from 2009. This is when Nancy Pelosi controlled the House. That budget was passed by the Senate, Harry Reid, and signed by the President Barack Obama. That budget which is the highest budget we have ever seen, this annual budget is what the country is running on for the past 3 years. Is it any wonder we are overspending?

HOWEVER, since 2009, the House of Representatives have passed several budgets and sent to the Senate which have been not voted on by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.  We need to demand a change.  Harry Reid has sworn to uphold and defend the constitution and all laws.  Yet he has been derelict of duty for over 3 years.   Where is the leadership in Washington?  Our own President has shown ZERO leadership.  Why?

Well both Harry Reid and Barack Obama are fundamentally ok with running the government with the 2009 budget, simply put, it’s large enough to do what they want.

Looking ahead to the end of the year is the Fiscal Cliff.  Why hasn’t the President or Harry Reid as leaders of the government stepped up and are trying to prevent this?  Well simply put, both will blame the Republicans.   They are ok with having all the increases in taxes, after all it gives them even more money to spend.  As long as they can blame the Republicans, they’ll keep spending.

It’s clearly time for a change.  In addition to having a change in the Presidency, we need a change in the leadership in the Senate.   Let’s hope we get some real change in 2013!
